MOTAT


On Tuesday we went to Motat. We saw all the old fashion communication things. One of mt favourite parts was when I did an example of morse code. I did SOS which is three small dots, three big dots and three small dots. Next we got to go around and see lots of things such as an old camera. We even got to turn on the old type writers.

When we had gone away from that we went on a KIWI hunt to look for all sorts of old fashioned kiwi things such as the old kiwi batch. Then it was time for lunch. I ate my delicioussandwhich which Mum had put in for me.


When we went to the invader it was so awesome. We went on an awesome roller coaster ride. At the start it was boring until we hopped on the launch pad. There was a count down. We all counted down 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 ignition. Then suddenly we were flying straight up before we cam down, down, down a hill. The girls closed their eyes and screamed like lunatics. Then we were eaten by this huge sea monster. Then we saw some smaller sea monsters that poked it's tounge out at us. Again all the girls screamed.


We learnt lots about the train that you can see. It weighs way more than an elephant. Imagine that. We learnt that a commander had developed the morse code so that it can be used in the dark. Sadly their hands were covered in muck which made it very difficult to use feel the dots and dashes on the machine. That was how Louis Braille got the idea how to make braille.


We went no a tram.Then the bus came.





Globalisation


How did people communicate around the world in the past?

In early BC the Cave men use a special method of writing on walls. That is how they communicated because they couldn't post letter like now days. Now later more in my great grandparent and grand parents time there was letter writing. If it was to be sent overseas it would be carried by boats. If it was distance to travel it would go by horse and carriage. Nowdays we use huge planes which are built to carry mail, cargo and people to send them to different countries. In the time of war, they used a special type of post called Pigeon post. They also use morse code
to try and stop each other from stealling their plans and messages.

How do we communicate with people around the world today?

A more modern development was the telephone. That allowed them to phone other people around the country and overseas. My intials TV stand for the next communication tool, which was the television. This allowed communication with pictures and sound. Next saw the invention of the fax machine. This is like email only it is on paper. The computer was a very helpful machine. It allows communication through email, the internet and things like facebook. Now days we use a devise called the cellphone. It is much like the tellephone except this one is smaller and is capable of doing more things like maps, texting and games as well as ringing people. The cellphone can be used anywhere in the world that has coverage.

Bacteria.

We are testing for all different types of bacteria. We have tested areas such as taps, someones mouth, the toilet floor, the worm bin and the computer. To test them we use some very important stuff. We wipe the area with a special type of cotton buds which are really big. Next we go to class and wipe the cotton bud on the agar plate. Miss Ellis sellotapes them closed and she tells us to keep them upside down and she then puts them on our science table. Now you can look at them under a microscope that Mr Jackson has leant to us. Thanks Mr Jackson. We tested Dom's hand first. There has been magnificant growth of bacteria. YUK!!!


A Moment In Time -

It was a very sunny Friday with hard packed snow on and off trail. I was skiing at Turoa down Vertigo on Mt Ruapehu. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a total disaster. A snowboarder was coming right at me. Boom! He bowled me out for a six. Strike! It felt horrible as I went round and round, and got a blockade of snow in my gigantic mouth. It felt as though I was about to vomit. Yuk. My ultimate Dad helped me back onto my steady but sore feet and I skied off to the super sonic six seater.

This week we have been making locomotive moves and mirroring each others moves. The locomotive was my favourite part becuase you got to move around. One of my dance moves was like an egyptian move with my hands looking like I am praying and my head is moving like a maraca. It was really fun doing it with a partner.

Dance
This term we have been dancing with music by James Brown and it was eixsiting and miracuously fun!!! We paired up with buddies and made up a really cool way of doing a dance. It had to be one cross over and one symmetrical shape. I was with Ben. Major preparations took place to improve dance moves

EOTC WEEK

Day 1: It was really fun because we went to a marae. If I go back I would like to learn more about the tribe and how they have survived. It was super fun.


Day 2: We went to Tree Adventures. It was like a military training zone, except there were no guns. It took a while to get all the instructions but we got there. My favourite course that I went on would be course 2, because it was the biggest one I got to go on. People were hogging course 3 and 4. I felt very brave. My verall favourite part was the flying fox.


Day 3: We went on a long, long walk to the reserve where we got into our groups and ran through some instructions for orientering. Then we headed off to look for the markers with clippies. I got really tired. I drank both of my water bottles. The best part was skating on the skateboard park.


Day 4: We went to this really cool pool. There was a tidal wave every half hour. My favourite part was when me and Andrew pretended to drive a plane. Andrew shot the missiles while I was driving firering the machine guns. We were going down the hydro slide at this stage. When it got dark, Andrew and I could not see. When we could see a little bit around the corner I put down the landing gear and we had a very very comfy landing. It was really cool because my mum and great aunty from Christchurch came to help. Mum even got in the pool and went down the slide with Miss Ellis!

The Myth

The myth was set in England and Called Cap O Rushes. It is about a rich man who has three daughters. The third daughter who is the main character is sent away from home because her father thought she hated him. She made herself a calpe of rushes to disguise herself and went to a grand house. There she worked for nothing. The masters son had 3 balls and Cap O Rushes went to all of them. He fell in love with her and they ended up getting married.

This Weeks Dance

Last week we got to know evey one in our group.This week we started our really cool dance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with some special eeeeffffeeeeccccttttsss. mean! We have some dominoes in our performance made by mmmmmeeeee. My group is Josh, Soph, Livie, Olivia, Sam and THOMAS V!!!
